Happiness Is Digital Classbook

Finally our Digital Class Book is finished! Please click on the link "Happiness Is" to check it out! Each student worked very hard to design and create their illustrations. Take a look at the detail involved in each and every photo. Please continue the discussion by commenting (Comments section below the post) about what 'happiness is' to you.

FACT vs OPINION

In class we have been talking about Facts and Opinions. We are learning to recognize the difference between the two. Today we started to play a short game where students have to decide whether or not each statement is a fact or an opinion.

Play along so that you can see the video at the end.

Fact & Opinion PBS KIDS

Here is another quick video that clearly explains the difference between facts and opinions

Word Cloud Art

For the past few weeks we have been focusing on all of the wonderful gifts of Creation. We learned that much of what we see was created by God for us to enjoy, respect and care for. To integrate technology, we used a Word Cloud function from the website ABCYA. The students worked in partners and had the opportunity to create a list of words related with Creation.

Take a look!

Germ Experiment (Health)

Mr. McCleod conducted an experiment on Friday afternoon about germs. He first cut a fresh apple and placed half the apple (untouched) in a sealed plastic bag. Next, he had each student touch the remaining apple piece with their hands so that some of their germs transferred over to to the apple. The apple was then sealed in a separate plastic bag. Take a look at the results! I will continue to take picture until we are no longer able to. It is very easy to see how germs affect everything we touch!

Tuesday March 8th

Wednesday March 9th....yuck. Take a close look at the 'Germ' picture.

Making Change -Mr. Nussbaum

The game below is an excellent introduction for kids who are learning how to make change. They have a variety of setting so that each student can experience success! Play along with your child and see how they fare. Many students are still having difficulty counting between different types of coins. For example, having to first count by 25s (quarters), then transferring to counting by 10s (dimes). Having to switch between different amounts can be very challenging.

The Living Stations of the Cross

As we continue to progress through this Lenten season our class will be learning about the events of Holy Week. We will take time each day to learn about what Jesus experienced during His last week on Earth. We will be using the Stations of The Cross as our primary learning tool. Please take some time to watch this student created video (former St. Maria Goretti School, Windsor). Also, please take a moment to point out where the Stations of The Cross are located in your parish the next time you attend mass as a family. These stations allow us the opportunity to consider Jesus' sacrifice every time we attend Mass.
